Where can I get an Aviation Medical?

Aviation Medicals can be carried out by a designated aviation medical examiner (DAME). The list of CASA approved DAME can be found here.

How long will training take?

Full time commercial training can be completed within 5-6 months. Full time Private takes around 2-3 Months. Part time training depends on how long you are willing to commit per week or month and generally takes around 1-2 years.

Do I need aeroplane experience before helicopter training?

No. It is recommended you train in only the helicopter. The extra time in the Helicopter will make you much more employable as well.

Will I be eligible for AUSTUDY/Youth Allowance?

Yes. AEROPOWER is an AUSTUDY / Youth Allowance accredited flight training school. If you meet the eligibility requirements for AUSTUDY or Youth Allowance then you are entitled to the benefits.

What is the average age of commercial students?

The age of AEROPOWER commercial students varies greatly. From 18-60.

I did not complete my Higher School Certificate, will this be a problem?

No. Commercial and Private helicopter training does not require the HSC. You will have to pass the CASA theory exams before you can hold either licence however.

Is the theory hard?

You do not have to be a rocket scientist to complete the theory. Some students may need the extra tutoring of a full time theory course. Others may find self-study is the best option.
